Yarose Shulzhenko

Word from the editor: This is the first article in this new category – Rare Finds. This section aims to explore brands and shoemakers who have not yet reached their full market potential, who are just starting or have been working for years with no intention for expansion. We are still unsure what gold nuggets we will find out there, but we promise, we will bring you the best, the craziest, the most interesting rare finds in the footwear market. Stay tuned and if you have any suggestions or you know someone who needs to be reviewed by us, please do not hesitate to drop us a message.

I want to start this article by saying that this will definitely not be about the everyday, average or comfortable shoes. This brand is all about the looks, expression and the status. I will not dare to say that the footwear these guys are making is just for displaying them and that wearing them would just be a finger-crippling pain, but even the founder of the brand – Yarose Shulzhenko – emphasises his creations as a way for their customers to express their luxury status.

Who is Yarose Shulzhenko?

Open up the Instagram, browse for any thin, model like women there, and you will 100% find at least couple of photos where they are wearing high-end, eye-catching killer heels. That was my first impression of the company – design and manufacture shoes, which would look stunning for the Instagram.

After further inspection, I still believe that these shoes are made to stun (in a good matter), however I do feel that there are plenty of people out there who not only enjoy displaying them, but also indulge the opportunity to wear them in everyday life. I have this rule – everything over 4 inch heel is a killer and needs to be treated with respect and caution. However, there are plenty of women with better walking skills and, let’s say, bigger “confidence” who can and enjoy wearing heels higher than 4 inch.

So really, who is Yarose Shulzhenko?

As most of the fashion brands this one is also named after its creator – Yarose Shulzhenko.

Yarose Shulzhenko

This Ukrainian born designer used his long term footwear passion and his grandfather’s knowledge to finish his fashion studies in Italy and establish an amazing and unique footwear brand. Together with his wife, they started this brand and shoe factory in Italy in the late 20s with their first market being primarily Russia and Ukraine. However, in 2013 they have launched their online shop and made their creations available for the global market.

Yarose Shulzhenko

In terms of their online shop, I really fancy it. It is clean, simple, mostly focused on displaying the products, not directing the attention to other website design details. Also, most of their products have photos showing a person wearing the shoes and you can also find videos displaying the products from different angles. Furthermore, its nice to have an option to be able to select the heel high and in some cases other attributes of the shoes, that is really not what bigger brands, focused on mass sales, usually allows you to do (for obvious reasons).

Shoes, shoes, shoes, tell me about their shoes!

Ok ok, lets finally review their shoes. Even tho, they are mostly focused on the high heels (offering pumps, booties, knee high and over the knee boots), they also have a variety of flats, sneakers and even shoes for men.

In terms of the quality, lets just say, that nothing beats the Italian craftsmanship. All the materials are top quality and you sure will get the best of the best. They are definitely getting the highest scores for the designs and the quality. I love how all of their shoes are just a perfect match between shoe design lines and the colours and I can easily agree with Yarose – all of their shoes should be treated as a work of art.

Another detail that grabbed my attention – the pricing. If you would take a look at a better known brands such as Alexander McQueen, you would have to pay £490 for a simple velvet pump and in case of Yarose’s creations, simple pumps go around $265 (which is around £200 as of current currency rate). You get amazing quality, different and unique designs and it’s a lot friendlier to your wallet. Therefore Yarose gets another vote from me – you get the luxury, you get the quality and you will not break your bank.

Yarose Shulzhenko
My one pick

So if I would need to pick one of their products, I would actually go with the stretch leather over-knee platform high heels.

Yarose Shulzhenko

I know they are super high, but when you think of this brand, what it stands for, you really need to go for something stunning, nowhere near average. I really like the kinda military style golden button design and how these boots emphasise the lines of the legs. These would suit perfect for a fancy dinner or a nice night out.

Which ones would you go for if you could get 1 pair for free? (leave your picks in the comments below).

Yarose Shulzhenko

To sum up, I really love this brand, how it stands out and it is not afraid to push their vision. From what I have managed to research about them, they are doing pretty well and I really hope they will continue their grow and never stop creating new and bald designs.
